"Empowering Communities: A Global Mission in Suicide Prevention"

From the vibrant streets of Hong Kong to the tranquil landscapes of Vietnam, Canada, and the UK, my journey as an ASIST trainer is deeply rooted in personal experiences that have shaped my mission to spread awareness and empower individuals with life-assisting skills. The loss of my dear friend to suicide, along with witnessing the struggles of parents with neurodivergent children, and drawing from my own lived experiences, were the driving forces behind my decision to embark on this path of suicide prevention and intervention.

Each ASIST workshop I have conducted stands as a testament to the transformative power of connection, empathy, and resilience in the realm of suicide prevention, fueled by my unyielding commitment to saving lives and fostering understanding.

Driven by a profound sense of purpose, my journey as an ASIST trainer has been profound and enlightening. In 2019, still grappling with the impact of losing my dear friend to suicide, I participated in the ASIST workshop in Hong Kong. This experience deepened my understanding of suicide prevention and ignited a passion within me to make a difference. In 2022, completing the T4T program in Melbourne, I emerged as a certified ASIST trainer with a clear vision and determination to save lives and raise awareness.

Breaking new ground in November 2022, I led two impactful ASIST workshops in Vietnam, engaging diverse audiences ranging from school counselors, teachers, social workers, university students and parents in vital conversations about suicide intervention. Building on this momentum, I conducted a series of  ASIST workshops in Canada and the UK in 2024, reaching a wide range of participants who are first responders, university students, physicians, counselors and therapists.

As a Master ASIST trainer, my mission is fueled by empathy and understanding, rooted in personal experiences that have shaped my dedication to suicide prevention. Looking ahead with determination and enthusiasm, I am excited to continue my mission by conducting five upcoming ASIST workshops in Hong Kong this May and June. In light of recent research findings highlighting the urgent need for suicide prevention measures in Hong Kong, my vision is to bring this crucial training to our communities and work towards fostering a suicide-safer environment for all. Together, let us strive towards a future where every individual is equipped to make a difference in suicide prevention, creating a world where hope and resilience prevail.
